I have not composed a song in 22 years since my father passed away and I wrote a song for him! Some people here on DM and some
other musicians who are not, have encouraged me to start writing again. They know who they are. I hope to continue this on along with my covers.

Awesome. The drumming is especially neat but I like the chord progressions and the clean jazzy guitar licks. I like the arpegiatted chorusy guitar, sounds a bit Gilmourish.
Some nice moogish moments too. Has a proggy feel but mixed in with with a big 80's type sound, a very interesting and cool piece of music.

Ahh a real nice mellow intro (i love this tonality, I think lydian?) great drumming as usual... love your high hat work. Zappa, floyd and yes mixed into a cake of epic deliciousness. very beautiful, smooth outro. i Really like this, perfect length aswell enough to keep you wanting more but not enough for you to get bored. BRILLIANT!!
Thoroughly impressed, Thanks for sharing

I really like how this opens like a curtain unveiling. Very nice blend of guitar sounds. I especially like the clean guitar.
This definitely has some great moments....I like the change that occurs at the 2:00 minute mark....and the 2:50 mark sounds like something from Yes.....
My only criticism.....meant in a constructive way....is that there are a few moments when the instrumentation isn't as tight as it should be. It's noticeable to me because of the odd time signature and syncopation that's occurring. If you tighten it up a bit..it'll really sound awesome.
Nice work, man!

Love that start where the guitar, bass & keyboards come in... so RUSH in the very best way!
There is a ton of influence from dozens of progressive bands here... IQ, ELP, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd just to name a few... yet all this is completely your own & you take complete credit!
This whole piece is a fantastic work of art & truly shows what a brilliant artist you really are... while the covers show how good you are at replicating others work - original tracks like this are in a class of their own bringing something magical to the table that you can be proud of always.
Top work & please continue to write more originals... just look at the response you are getting here - does that not tell you just how worthwhile this is?

You can't wait another 22 years. The first time I listened to this, I thought it was going to be on the creepy side, just from the intro, but then it morphed into something melancholy-- and really beautiful! The work that went into this one really shows, from the guitar which is never overstated, to the bells/chimes/whatever that is... this music sort of slides into your mind and -- -- mind control?? Is that what's going on here? Well, for 3:51 you ARE in control.
And I quote-- "More, please!"

Richard puts out his much awaited original song. Glad to see that you did. You should continue to, this was very dreamy, soft and as mentioned before melancholic, but the some of the guitar infused a little urgency to the entire piece that really made the title of this song stand out. This song makes you feel like a clock is ticking away.

It is said that drummers brains are more developed than the normal person...it has to be true to work out intricate rhythms like this
The Moog sounds awesome, so does your guitar work, I can hear so many great Prog Rock band influences, its like all my fav music compressed into one track, you have to compose more Howard, this is a Masterpiece

and I just love the synth woven so nicely into the mix~Well I'm no Robert
Plant but, I'd jump at the chance to write lyrics and add vocals to some of your original pieces Originality RULES! You got my phone# I may be moving

loving the mix.. soundwise, i'm enjoying it.
would have like the drums to be tighter. i feel as if the drums and little bells thingie (?) are throwing one another off. i donno.
fuck man.. great sound, i really like the chords, the melody is great. real good quality writing. drums need work tho.

It is worth noting that this song is in 7/4 since some people have asked about the time signature. During some parts, the drums and other instruments are playing 4/4 and 2/4 over the main time signature as a polyrhythm. It's simple but deceiving.

i really really like this song howard... as farfor44 said, i, too, would be glad to write lyrics for your original pieces. this song has a nice mix between the drums and the synth - one is sort of sent after the other.
love it. ---jd

I'm so sorry it took so long for me to listen to this one Howard. Now I realize what I've been missing and it was worth waiting for.
Ahhhhhhhh, It must have been a very special, cathartic experience writing this. Seriously, you soooooooo have to keep cranking out more of these original songs.
To me, this track sounds very Pink Floyd, "Dark Side of the Moon". I love that dramatic synthesized soundtrack-style beginning. The track segways right into a mellow rock/blues rif that is so pleasant on the ears. The bells add just the right touch of ice to the mix.
Keep writing! That's how good things happen. I'd love to hear an original song from you complete with lyrics. I'm on my third listen.

A brooding opening into a wonderful atmospheric track. It made me feel joyful and melancholy at the same time, and that's some achievement. My only criticism is that it's too short. Truly excellent.

Although this is an awesome tune I feel that you have more in you. Make me fly, make me enjoy the journey. the changes were er well sorta repetitious ... sorta variation on a theme stuff. I suppose you could have been going for the feel that the more things change the more they stay the same.
Yes there is a nice feel to the tune, yes the production is excellent, yes all things are good but you have excellent in you.
I want the excellent. I want you to be the best you can be and I WANT YOU TO KEEP WRITING DAMMIT
This is an excellent first endeavor after a long hiatus. Very well done
